Easter Week Reflection

Has anyone been watching “The Chosen”? I was apprehensive because as much as I hate to say it, often Christian productions are B grade. This one is not. The acting is excellent, the scenery is believable, and the storytelling is compelling. As one friend who encouraged me to watch it said, “It makes all I read about Jesus so much more real.” That’s how I felt when I read this. So I thought it would be a great Easter Reflection. Maybe you will too.

“During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death” Hebrew 5:7.

“My, what a portrait!  Jesus is in pain. Jesus is on the stage of fear. Jesus is cloaked, not in sainthood, but in humanity.

“The next time the fog finds you, you might do well to remember Jesus in the garden. The next time you think no one understands, reread the fourteenth chapter of Mark. The next time your self-pity convinces you that no one cares, pay a visit to Gethsemane. And the next time you wonder if God really perceives the pain that prevails on this dusty planet, listen to him pleading among the twisted trees.” Max Lucado, No Wonder They Call Him Savior.

May you have a blessed and happy Holy Week and may you find a place to worship the Lord this Easter.
