Gratitude in the Trenches

In response to my last post, Thanksgiving Forever, I got this from the gal who faithfully manages our church’s prayer chain. Her heart of gratitude during challenging times blessed my heart—really! She gave me permission to share it, and it will bless your heart too.

I think my most amazing "thankful moment" came when I was doing Chemotherapy!  One morning when I had a scheduled treatment at 6:30 am and had to get up just before 4 am to get ready and had to call my poor cousin (who is NOT a morning person) to get up too. It didn't feel like a blessing.  But the morning went well, and by the time she drove up in my yard to pick me up (although it was still dark), we were both awake with the help of some coffee.

As we drove down through pneumonia gap, I was suddenly aware that I was looking forward to seeing familiar faces at Ccare and hearing the ping of my phone as so many texted me to let me know they were praying for me.  Going through cancer treatment wasn't always pleasant, but God CAN and WILL use ANYTHING to let us see His loving character and his unconditional love for us in the most trying times......  I am truly blessed and grateful to know Him!

I am so grateful for the call to intercessory prayer also.  What a privilege to lift others to the very throne room of our Father God and to know that Jesus joins us in our intercession for those we bring. It defies understanding and defines gratitude. Shelley Mellon.

Thank you, Shelley, for this inspiration,
